Finding Good Fit Books

Today we were reminded of the importance of choosing Good Fit or Just Right Books. Many students shared great strategies, such as previewing the front and back, reading a few pages to see if its interesting. We learned a strategy using the mnemonic I PICK and reviewing the 5 finger rule.

Cardboard Challenge!

We sure have been busy taking district assessments over the last few weeks that we thought we'd set aside a little time next week to use our imaginations and create. Thanks to Caine for inspiring us with his cardboard arcade and the 5th grades for allowing us to play your games at recess.

All next week we will be spending time to brainstorm a game we could create out of cardboard and recycled materials. We will brainstorm and plan both individually and in collaboratively within a small group. Next Friday we will set aside time to work cooperatively,  build and play.

While we have been collecting cardboard, we are in need of packing tape(the small rolls on the dispensers), masking tape, tinfoil and cardboard and recycled objects your child might decide to bring in to use.

If you are willing to donate tape please add a comment below.

Enjoy this video of Caine's Arcade!

Thursday Thought-- Welcome Back

Wow! I already this is going to be an amazing year. Almost everyone signed and turned in their yellow forms. If you didn't sent it back to school today, not to worry but please send it back to school on Tuesday.

This commercial was posted HH FB page but I just had to repost it.
